Zion-Friedheim Evangelical Lutheran Church
this season of great anticipation, we are glad that you joined us as we search
for the presence of God in our lives and in our world today. Please help
us know you by signing one of our guest registries. There is a registry in
either entrance way of the church. We
welcome you to join us in any of our worship and program life during this season
of Advent. If you wish to commune this morning, please complete a communion
registration card. There are cards
in either entrance way of the church. You
may place the card in the offering plate or give it to one of the Deacons.

Statement of Communion Practice
Advent means "coming." Christ came in the flesh at Bethlehem, He comes now in Word and Sacrament, and He will come again in judgment. As we look forward to His final coming, we find our deepest joy and comfort in His present coming with His very body and blood for our forgiveness. As we receive the Lord's Supper today, guests desiring to commune are asked to speak with the pastor before the service. For Scriptural reasons, we practice close communion.
We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Ruth Heckman, Shirley Hormann, Julie Heckman, Zach Stoppenhagen, Sean Bultemeier, Alma Keidel, Veronica Moellering, Tia Lee, Corena Buuck (who is celebrating her 95th birthday) and Larry Caston. We also remember in our prayers our Wyneken cooks, Angie Werling, Sharon Brenneke and Marcia Selking, and our Wyneken custodian, Kim Ehlerding, as well as Cindy Des Jean who teaches in the public school in our prayers. In addition, we remember Monica Stoppenhagen, one of our Sunday School teachers, in our prayers. May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.
May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives. We especially remember Hildegard Kiefer who returned home following a stay in the Extended Care Unit at Adams County Hospital, Joyce Heckman who is a patient at IU Medical Center at Indianapolis and Esther Gallmeyer who is a patient at St. Joe Hospital.
The choir enhances our worship services each Sunday. This morning we especially wish to thank them for their Christmas gift to us, the gift of song. May the Lord continue to bless each of you.
Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week. Please take a few moments each day to go over this information. The theme for this week is "How God Sent His Son."
Make plans to attend our midweek Advent service at 7:30 p.m. this Wednesday, December 20. Pastor Dahling's sermon will be "Rejoice in Jesus."

The program can also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. on WBZD (92.7
FM) and at 3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on WFCV (1090).
Christmas boxes have been placed in the furnace room for the congregation to place any gifts for our workers - (Pastor Dahling, Sandy Blomenberg, Marvin Drier, Bob & Ruth Armao, Anne Hess, Jon Smithley and Mark Sedwick.) If you wish to give a monetary gift, please see one of our Elders (Wally Bultemeier, Dave Conrad, Les Conrad or Jim Fuhrman) and they will make sure the gift reaches the appropriate individual.
There are less than 60 cookbooks left and only 15 “Hints” books available. If you wish to purchase any for the holiday giving, you may wish to do so soon. Cookbooks cost $8 each while the Almanac is $4. You may contact the church office if you wish to purchase a book.
Church Council members for 2001 will be installed during this morning's worship service. Newly elected members as well as those who continue to serve will be asked to come forward. A special thanks to these individuals who willing give so generously of their time for our congregation. This is also an opportunity to thank our outgoing officers for their contributions to our church. The election results are as follows:

|Financial Secretary-||Sylvia Scheumann||Deacons-||Mike Conrad|
|Foundation-||Larry Hitzfield||Trustees-||Steve Conrad|
