We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Beth Heimann, Sean Sielschott, Jordan Buuck, Kevin Conrad, Candice Shannon, Mike Conrad, Erica Everett, Brandon Kock, Trevor Baumann, Ted Blomenberg, Shelby Bultemeier, Bessie Evans, Deb Gallmeyer, Erin Heimann, and Mike Miller.   May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.   We especially remember Eric Bultemeier, son of Leonard and Christine Bultemeier, who returned home this past week as well as Alvina Schroeder, who is a resident at Ossian Health Care.

An altar at the United Nations building is "dedicated to the god who men worship under many names and many forms."  However, the true God makes Himself known in His Word.   Hear Rev. Wallace Schulz's   message, "You Can Know the True God,"  on the The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO beginning at 7:35 a.m.  It's also on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "Obstacles to Ministry."  If you have any comments about this new program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

Council Members:  The minutes from the July 5, 2000 Council Meeting are in your slots in the entrance way of church.  You may pick up your minutes as you leave the worship service this morning.  The next Council meeting is on Tuesday, August 1.

The men's softball team has at least two games this week.  They'll face Flatrock on Wednesday, July 26, at 8:30 p.m. and on Friday, July 28,  at 8:30 p.m. at   Decatur.  Post-season tournament play begins on Saturday, July 29.  This tournament schedule wasn't available at the time the bulletin was printed.

The maze will be open to the public on Saturday, August 5..  The Foods Committee is asking for donations.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew) are  needed.  Hot dogs and hamburger (40 lbs.) are also on the request list.  If you would prefer to give cash and let the committee make the purchase, that would also be helpful.  You may bring your donations to church or contact any member of the Foods Committee - Dorothy Heckman, Denise Conrad, Mary Gallmeyer, or Tami Stoppenhagen.  They would be more than willing to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

The dates for the Glenbrook Bazaar have been set.  The bazaar will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 8 and 9.  Check your schedules and see when you will be able to help.  Set up will be Thursday night starting at 8:00 p.m.

The cookbook "proofs" have been returned from the printer.  This project is on (or ahead) of schedule.  If you would be willing to take any cookbooks to work or your place of business, please contact a member of the committee - Becky DeKoninck, Karen Gallmeyer, Mary Gallmeyer, Shirley Hormann, or  Sylvia Scheumann.   Thanks in advance for your help!

Take some time to complete the insert in this morning's bulletin concerning the staffing needed for Cornfusion.  To make the maze run smoothly, it takes a commitment from our membership to help staff the maze each weekend.  Please look at your calendars and volunteer when you can.  Everyone's contribution of time is needed.

The next workday at the "Cornfusion" site will be held on Saturday, July 29.  Please come and help get the maze ready for the public.  Thanks!!

Wyneken News

The Hot Lunch Committee is looking for a third cook.  Please contact Mike Werling (724-9383) for more details.

School will be closed from Monday, July 24, to Thursday, August 3.  The floors are being waxed and will need to dry.  Thanks so much for your cooperation.

Do you have an interest in sports?  Can you donate some of your time to our Wyneken athletes?  Our young Warriors need you!  There are many coaching openings at Wyneken for the 2000-2001 school year.  We have openings at all levels in volleyball, boys and girls soccer, as well as boys and girls basketball.  While game times are unchangeable for the most part, practice dates and times can be arranged around your schedule.  To offer your help or to have any questions answered, please call Marv Drier at 547-4419.

See Kris Blomenberg or Becky DeKoninck after the worship service this morning if you wish to purchase some SCRIP.  Look at the hotels, gas stations, and restaurants that are participants in SCRIP while making your vacation plans.   Great news!  Glenbrook gift certificates (with a return of 4%) are now available.  Just think of the possibilities.  These certificates are good for all stores at Glenbrook Square and Glenbrook Commons.  Keep this in mind when doing that back-to-school shopping as well as looking at those end-of-summer bargains.

Stop by the Coke wagon outside the Decatur Scott's on Saturday and Sunday, August 5 and 6, and again on August 12 and 13.  The 8th graders will be selling hot dogs and coke from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Enjoy a snack and help the 8th graders earn their trip to Washington, DC.

School registration forms will be mailed out mid-July.  Start watching your mail box.  Registration day will be held on Tuesday, August 15, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
