We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Ivy Mourey, Bruce Bultemeier, Robert Armao, Roger Buuck, and Larry Hitzfield.   May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember Esther Nuerge who was a patient at Caylor-Nickel Clinic this past week.

The flowers on the altar are to the glory of God and in loving memory of Alex Hormann.   The flowers were placed in church by his family.

Pastor and his family will be taking a well-deserved vacation beginning tomorrow and continuing through July 2.  If you are in need of pastoral care, please contact Rev. Daniel Brege of Preble until June 29.  Please contact Bob Armao from June 30 to July 2.  May Pastor and his family have a relaxing and safe trip.

We also remember in our prayers Sean Esterline, our former field worker, who will be ordained today.  The ordination will take place in Chicago, Illinois.  We pray that the Lord will bless his ministry.

Parents, please encourage your children to come forward when called to hear the special message geared to them.

We thank Jon Smithley for delivering this morning's sermon.  May the Lord continue to bless him as he studies for the ministry.

God created and loves all people.  He calls believers to speak His Word to neighbors and friends, just like Jonah did.  Hear Rev. Wallace Schulz's   message, "God wants You to Talk to Your Neighbor," on the The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m.  It's also on at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

Council Members:  The minutes from the June 6, 2000 Council Meeting are in your slots in the entrance way of the church.  Please pick up your copy as you leave the worship service this morning.  Remember the next Council Meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 5, due to the 4th of July holiday.

There are just a few seats left for the Chicago Bus Trip on Saturday, July 1.  If you would like to attend, please return your reservation form with $35  immediately.   The bus will be leaving  Southtown Mall (by Sears)  at 6:45 a.m. and return at 10:00 p.m.  Questions?  Contact Cindy Berning (459-6883).

The men's softball team has two games this week.  They'll face Soest on Monday, June 26, at 8:30 p.m. and Ossian on Tuesday, June 27, at 7:00 p.m.   Both games are at Hoagland.

Soon the maze will be open.  The Foods Committee is asking for donations.  Coke and Pepsi products (especially Mountain Dew) are needed.  Hot dogs and hamburger (40 lbs.) are also on the request list.  If you would prefer to give cash and let the committee make the purchase, that would also be helpful.  You may bring your donations to church or contact Tami Stoppenhagen (728-9101) for her to pick up the items from you.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Included in this morning's bulletin is a study guide ("Time in the Word") for this week.  Please take a few moments each day to go over this information.  The theme for this week is "The Facts about Sin."  If you have any comments about this new program, please contact pastor or one of the Elders.

The Camp Watcha Wanna Do coed slow pitch softball tournament will be held on Saturday, July 22, at Hoagland with ball games beginning at 11:00 a.m.  Additional games and activities, including a raffle, are being planned for this year.  If any one is interested in playing, please contact Kevin or Dawn Buuck after the worship service this morning.  At least 15 poeple are needed (with an age limit of 13 years or older).

Youth ushers for July are Josh Miller and Craig Linnemeier

Wyneken News

Mr. Scott Helming has declined the call to be our principal.  Let us keep our school and School Board in our prayers as they pursue looking for an interim principal.

Diane George, our second grade teacher, has received a call to St. Paul Lutheran Church and Christ the King Academy in Tracy, California.  She has been asked to teach first grade.  Please keep her in your prayers as she contemplates this call.

If you need to contact Mr. Krupski, he will be in the school office (mornings only) through June 30.

The position of Athletic Director at Wyneken will be opening as of June 30, 2000.  The School Board is presently looking to fill the position.  If you are interested, please contact Jeff Kiess (Bingen) at 728-2154, Jim Heckman (Friedheim) at 724-3186, or John Schueler (Preble) at 547-4677 by July 8, 2000.

See Kris Blomenberg or Becky DeKoninck after the worship service this morning if you wish to purchase some SCRIP.  Look at the hotels, gas stations, and restaurants that are participants in SCRIP while making your vacation plans.

Don't want to go home and cook following our Voter's Meeting on July 9?  Our 8th graders have the solution.  Enjoy a drive thru chicken BBQ.  Chicken will be sold on the 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Meyer's old gas station (across from Wyneken) or you may pick up your chicken at Friedheim between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.  Pre-sale tickets ($4 for chicken)  are being sold this Sunday and next.  You may also purchase chicken that day but by purchasing tickets in advance it will help the class  with planning the amount of chicken to purchase. (Pre-sale tickets are good from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.)  See Amy DeKoninck, Ashley Fuhrmann, Laura Fuhrmann, or Dawn Heckman for tickets.  Your support is appreciated.
