Nathan Conrad

We remember our members celebrating birthdays this week -- Karl King, Nan Nidlinger, Sabrina Putteet, Karen Conrad, Lisa Kiess, Laura Knipstein, Jim Fuhrman, Allyssa Johnson, and Walter Droege. In addition, we remember in our prayers our Wyneken 6th grade teacher, Dean Wass, and one of our public school teachers, Toney Bergman.  May the Lord continue to guide, direct, and bless their lives.

May the Great Physician grant health and strength to all who are in need of His presence in their lives.  We especially remember in our prayers this morning    Irene Kiess who is recovering at her Arizona home, Clarence Bultemeier who  is a patient at Parkview (ICU),  and Pastor Olson's father who is in a Minnesota hospital with heart problems.

The Monday evening Bible class will begin the book of Mark tomorrow night.  Come be a part of this study which begins at 7:00 p.m.

The memorial service for Ernie Muller has been scheduled.  It will be held next Sunday, Feb. 6, at 3:00 p.m. in Kramer Chapel on the grounds of the Concordia Theological Seminary.   Let us continue to keep the Muller family in our prayers.

The 5th through 8th graders will not have Sunday School this morning due to the spaghetti dinner.  All other classes will meet, however.

For the Israelites, it wasn't just a matter of "getting through a bad week."  It would be another 400 years before their Exodus from Egypt.  From their time in slavery, we can learn a thing or two about our own tough times.  Hear Dr. Dale Meyer's message, "Running on Fumes; No God in Sight,"  on The Lutheran Hour.  The show airs on WOWO at 7:35 a.m., at 8:05 a.m. on 92.7 FM, and at  3:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on 1090 on Sunday.

Friedheim's men's basketball team will play at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 31, at Monmouth.   Their opponent will be St. Paul's Preble.

The LYF wishes to invite the congregation to today's spaghetti dinner.   Serving will begin in the Parish Hall immediately after the worship service and continue until noon.  The menu includes spaghetti, breadsticks, lettuce, applesauce, cake, pie, milk, and coffee.  A free will offering will be accepted.

LYF Members:   Please let Corbin or Lisa Bultemeier know today if you plan on going skiing (and if you are bringing a friend with the friend paying their own  expenses) on Sunday, February 6.  The LYF will  leave from the Parish Hall no later than 5:30 a.m.  The plan is to attend a church in Michigan that morning and then hit the slopes.    Adult drivers and/or chaperones are needed.  If any parents or other members of the congregation would like to help, please let Corbin or Lisa know as soon as possible.   Come and join in the fun!!

Council Members:  The minutes from the January 4 Council meeting are in your slots in the entrance way of the church.  Please note that the next Council meeting will be held on Monday, February 7, since Pastor Dahling will be teaching a course at Lutheran Bible Institute on Feb. 1.

Altar Guild will meet on Monday, February 7, at 8:00 p.m.

LWML Ladies:  Would you like to receive the LWML Quarterly this year?    The cost of the quarterlies are $4 per year.  We are asking the members who wish to receive this to cover the cost of their Quarterlies. If so, please contact Laurina Conrad, the LWML treasurer, by March 1 and give her the $4.  Thanks!

Don't forget to pick up your Annual Report.  The Report as well as the 2000 Church Directory are in the back pew.

Lutheran Bible Institute will begin on February 1 at Zion Lutheran School in Decatur with the classes starting at  7:30 p.m. and running until 9:30 p.m.  There are brochures concerning these classes in the entrance way if you desire more information.

Youth ushers for February will be Matt Knipstein and Josh Stoppenhagen.

The Vision 2000 Committee will have its first meeting of the year on Monday, Feb. 7, at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  This is a very important meeting.  The goals for the year 2000 need to be established.  If you are a member of the Friedheim Foundation or the Finance Committee, you are a member of the Vision 2000 Committee.  The Vision 2000 Committee will meet on a monthly basis at 7:00 p.m. prior to the monthly Council meetings.  If you have any questions, please contact Cindy Houser.

Altar Guild members for February are Cheryl Bultemeyer and Elsie Buuck.

The Lutheran Foundation is seeking a Grant Advisor.  For more information concerning this position, please check the bulletin board in the entrance way of the church.
