26. Read verses 2-3. From the woman's reply, would you say that she understood God's commandment correctly, and what their punishment would be if they disobeyed? EVE UNDERSTOOD THE COMMANDMENT BUT SHE ADDS TO THE WORD GOD GAVE WITH THE PHRASE "OR TOUCH IT!". MAN HAS A PROBLEM WHEN HE ADDS TO OR TAKES AWAY FROM GOD'S WORD.

28A. What else did the serpent say would happen if she ate the fruit? THE SERPENT SAID: YOU WILL BE "LIKE GOD" KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL. THIS IS TRUE, BUT TO BE "LIKE GOD" IS NOT TO SAY THAT GOD WAS MEANING EVIL OR HARM FOR US. THIS IS WHAT ADAM AND EVE WERE TEMPTED WITH.

29A. List the things that tempted the woman to eat the fruit (verse 6)

1) THE TREE WAS GOOD FOR FOOD.

SUMMARY OF GENESIS

Thus far we have traced over a period of a good many thousands of years the working out and the unfolding of the promise of a savior for the world first given in Genesis 3:15. We have followed the history and ancestry of that Savior from the time of creation to about 1,600 B.C. We have seen how the promise was carried along, beginning with Adam (Gen.4:25), running along through Noah (5:29), then on through Shem (11:10), then on through Abram (12:1), then through his son Isaac (17:21), and then through his son Jacob (37:1-2) who is called Israel, and finally through his son Judah (49:8-10).

In doing so we have noticed how God was constantly separating out one individual after another, then the bearers of the promise, or the covenant, and the ancestors of the Savior. Thus we now know that the promised Savior will come from the nation of Israel, and within that nation, from the tribe of Judah, and that he will be a king descended from the royal line.
